Code Enforcement
The Planning and Code Enforcement office promotes, coordinates, and enforces land use activities within the town of Frenchville in accordance with the Comprehensive Plan and applicable ordinances. Some areas of involvement include the Planning Board, Board of Appeals, development review process, historic preservation, and land use. Planning and Code Enforcement is responsible for the issuance and inspection of the following:
• Inspections: Sanitation inspection (restaurants and lodging), license inspection, property maintenance inspection, land use
inspection, and flood plain management.
• Permits: Building permits, electrical permits, plumbing permits, septic permits and sign permits. Anyone planning to do any construction and/or renovation is required by law to file a 'Land Use Permit' application with the Code Enforcement Officer.
The application for a permit should be filed at least one month prior to doing any work, especially if the location of the project is within 200 feet from any lake, pond, wetland or within 75 feet of a stream or brook. Application forms may be picked up at the Frenchville Town or printed from the link below.
Office during business hours. The cost of a Building Permit is $20.00. Other permits vary.
